Stickers vs. Roll Labels: How to Compare Costs
Compare the full cost of stickers and roll labels for your small business, including quantity, material, design variations and application time.

Start with the job, then compare the price.
A sticker for a customer to take home and a label you apply to a thousand jars solve different problems. Before comparing quotes, decide how the finished piece will be used.
Compare like with like
- Size and shape: use the same finished dimensions on both quotes.
- Material: compare equivalent finishes and durability requirements.
- Quantity: compare the actual quantity you need, not just the lowest advertised unit price.
- Variations: tell the printer how many flavors or designs split that quantity.
- Extras: include design, file review, shipping and any setup charges.
Work out your cost per usable piece
Divide the full delivered quote by the number of usable pieces. A hypothetical $120 order of 1,000 labels is 12 cents per label; that is arithmetic, not a URGrafix price offer. Include likely waste and your time applying labels when comparing the practical cost.
When to consider each format
Individual stickers are convenient for giveaways, order inserts and merchandise. Roll labels are worth comparing when you apply the same design repeatedly to products. If you use a label applicator, confirm roll direction, core and roll dimensions before ordering.
Ask before choosing a material
Tell Jess whether the label will face moisture, refrigeration, oil, sunlight or frequent handling. Ask for the specifications of the selected material rather than assuming that all stickers or all roll labels perform the same way.
